This is a beautiful, handcrafted Sambalpuri cotton kurti with a flared, anarkali-style silhouette. The kurti features a soft, light pink or peach-colored cotton fabric.
The most striking feature of this kurti is the a-line shape and the beautiful motifs. The yoke is a masterpiece of traditional art, showcasing intricate tribal or folk-art inspired patterns, likely in a "Dongria Kondh" or similar style, in shades of brown, black, and white. This detailed work contrasts beautifully with the simple, vertical "ikkat" patterns in black and white that adorn the main body of the kurti. A thin, dark blue and white border separates the yoke from the body.
The kurti has a round neckline and 3/4th sleeves, which are also finished with a small border. The hem of the kurti is bordered with a thick, solid brown band, complementing the brown on the yoke. The combination of the different traditional motifs and the subtle color palette makes this a unique and elegant piece, perfect for showcasing the rich textile heritage of the region.
